    I need recipe ideas for ground turkey

    I just got a big pack of ground turkey, and I found it to be bland and dry. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

     We eat vegetarian ground "beef" and always end up in a similar situation.  Mixing it with a little tomato sauce, depending on what you want to use it for, can cut down on the dryness and then you can add garlic or onion powder for flavor.  Taco seasoning is GREAT on ground turkey.
    Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f*ckin' perfect.

    Thank you for the ideas.... I just made a burger out of it. Maybe adding it to sauce or adding some spices will help. I'm trying to switch from ground beef to ground turkey.....

    I love  it in several of the soups I make or as turkey meatballs.

    I season it with some garlic and onion powder and since I like it spicy I also add some cayenne.  then I brek it up and add it to my soups.  Meatball:  add1 egg per pound of meat.  Minced fresh onion,  equal amounts of bread crumbs and parmesan or romano cheese, garlic powder and a little oregano.  Roll into small meatballs and either add them to tomato sauce as is and cook through  or cook them in the oven and then add.  The sauce will have more flavor if you cook them right in the sauce.  I could also give you better measurements if I knew how much meat you had.  I don't eat pasta much but will occasionally have whole wheat egg noodle on ocassion with the turkey meatballs.
    Have fun with it.  You can do pretty much any seasonings you enjoy.

    I made these the other night and found them to be nice and moist and quite yummy. Note: recipe and nutrition facts are NOT mine. I found everything from a blog I read. I was able to only eat 2 meatballs, but I'm early postop.

    Asian Turkey Meatballs With Lime Sesame Dipping Sauce
    Servings: 4 • Size: 3 meatballs
    Calories: 229.1 • Fat: 11.1 g • Carbs: 8.5 g • Protein: 24.3 g

       * 1/4 cup panko crumbs
       * 1-1/4 lbs 93% lean ground turkey
       * 1 egg
       * 1 tbsp ginger, minced
       * 1 clove garlic, minced
       * 1/2 tsp salt
       * 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
       * 3 scallions, chopped
       * 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
       * 2 tsp sesame oil

    Dipping Sauce

       * 4 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
       * 2 tsp sesame oil
       * 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
       * 2 tbsp water
       * 1 chopped fresh scallion

    Preheat oven to 500°F.

    Mix ground turkey, panko, egg, salt, scallions, cilantro, 1 tbsp soy
    sauce, and 2 tsp oil and mix with your hands until combined well.
    Shape 1/4 cup meat mixture into a ball and transfer to a baking dish.
    Repeat with remaining mixture. Bake until cooked through, about 15
    minutes.
    For the dipping sauce mix together lime juice, water, soy sauce, and
    remaining 2 teaspoons of oil in a bowl. Add scallions.

    Transfer meatballs to a serving dish. Stir sauce, then drizzle
    meatballs with 1 tablespoon sauce.

    Serve meatballs with remaining sauce, about 1 tbsp per person. Chances
    are you won't use all the dipping sauce.

    Makes 12 meatballs.

    The recipe sounds yummy. But I have never heard of Panko crumbs. What exactly is that and where can I find it?  Thanks

    Panko are Japanese bread crumbs. You should be able to find them in most large grocery stores, probably in the Asian aisle. Otherwise, you could def. find them in an Asian supermarket.

    In a pinch, you could just sub regular bread crumbs, but panko are extra crunchy and yummy.

    I have to dig up my recipe but I wil get it and post it. My fav one for ground turkey is mini meat loaves. Found the recipe on sparkpeople.

    I mix ground turkey with Stove Top Stuffing and some unsweetened apple sauce for moisture.

    Then I pack them in muffin tins and bake.

    Easy. Portion controlled. Protein packed little morsels. Not dry at all!

    I put 2 in a zip lock and throw in my purse to go to work.

    Nuke and eat.

    *Also made them with some reg bread crumbs, an egg and some jar spagetti sauce. Sprinkled parm cheese on top and baked. Very tasty also.

    I love this turkey chili.  I like to add a few extra things to it like some jalapenos.

    we eat Ground turkey all the time, seasonings and moisture are important in making it taste good.
    I make turkey meatloaf, chili, meatballs, I mix it with taco seasoning and put it over salad, mix it with garlic, onion and marinara sauce and make low carb pizzas with it.

    we use ground turkey just like hamburger.  I like to steam it then mix in spaghetti sauce.  I serve it over french cut green beans.  Yummy with a bit of mozzarella melted over the top.

    I always make turkey chili and turkey tacos with the ground white meat turkey....both taste so good!

    I also just make turkey burgers with the white meat turkey and put BBQ sauce over them.

    I make stuffed eggplant with it.  Hollow out an eggplant and cube, saute in olive oil with garlic, onion, italian seasonings mix, and your turkey.  Add a little tomato sauce.  Stuff back into your eggplant shell, cover with sauce and sprinkle with cheese and melt.  You can find detailed instructions on Food Networks web site as this came from a Rachel Ray show.
    I also use ground turkey in my sauce for lasagna - I use strips of grilled Zucchini in place of lasagna noodles.  With non fat Ricotta and part skim mozarella you can make a really high protein low fat lasagna that tastes great.
    My last suggestion - go to the blog - "the world according to eggface" (just google eggface) and she has great recipe suggestons.

    The key for me when making a plain old burger is I grate up onion in the meat and also if you are making more then 1 patty adding in an egg.  Either the onion or the egg make the burger juicer and of course the onion will add flavor.  Oh I also add in minced garlic.

    Also most of the time when I make a meatloaf or meatballs or stuff bell pepper I just experiement and I almost never add the breadcrumbs (or if the recipe called for rice I dont' add that either) oftentimes those ingredients were used either as fillers (to make the meat MORE) and/or to absorb the fat in the meat...you don't have that problem with ground turkey unless you are buying a higher fat count of ground turkey.

    Enjoy I've been doing ground turkey for years now even before my WLS.  I'm not big on having it as a burger (because burger to me usually means buns & fries) but I make meatballs and tacos with it all the time.
