What happens if I gain during supervised WL meetings???

    Hi,

I have my last supervised weight loss meeting tomorrow.  I may have gained almost 2# since last weigh in, but still should be a couple of pounds less than my first weigh in.

Has anyone else gained?  What it impact insurance?  I have Fed BCBS.

    Thanks!

I am sooooo nervous about being submitted for insurance!  I cannot get it out of my mind.  My first app't this years my BMI was 40.3, last time it was 39.5, tomorrow will probably be in between.

Sorry I am obsessing with all of this!

I gained and lost the whole time with probably a net gain of a few lbs.....didn't cause an issue for me although my ins (AL BCBS) didn't mandate any amount of loss--just a 6 mo supervised diet.

One month I gain 6 pounds on my supervised diet!!  My doc was like 'Say what!!??'....but then the next month I lost 9 pounds to make up for the weight gain. I have BCBS of Alabama...and I didnt have ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL!!  I think it took them like a week or two to approve me  (forever in my mind).   Honestly, I didnt really try too hard on my supervised diet... I heard that if you lose too much that gives them a reason to deny you. Cuz you showed them u can do it on your own. Not sure if thats true, but I got approved doing it the way I did..... GOOD LUCK!  :)

I don't know anything about ur insurance but I do usually see those with low BMI has to have other things going on with them and I hope that is (for surgery) reasons your case.  Also I think it shows that even supervised you have no control over your weight and WLS may be it so I don't think it is a bad thing unless someone said to you not to loss. good luck

The doctors office suggested that I try and stay at same weight- not to gain, not to lose.  So, I guess we will see tomorrow.

I just cannot believe how stressed out I am getting over the insurance part.  I have figured if I get denied I can appeal, and I may just participate in their medically supervised weight loss.  In my mind I am getting ready for surgery and losing weight (I have fought weight my entire life - even as as child getting weighed in at school was always very dramatic because I was always the heaviest in my class).

Anyway - hopefully they will submit my first weight, which I believe they will.  I think they are going to use co-mobids such as stress inconteninence and arthritis.  Not sure if that will work, but we can see.

Thanks for all the great responses!
My nutritionist said that technically it was supposed to be a documented failed weight loss attempt.  I would loose some months and gain some months.  My final weight was 3 lbs heavier than where I started 6 months earlier and I had no insurance issues.  I  am sure you will be fine!
If your insurance does not require an amount to be lost, you are fine.

You need to find out what your insurance requires but also what your surgeon requires. Some won't operate if you gain from your first weigh in.

I'm not higher than my first weigh in - but may be up one or two pounds from my second weigh-in.  I weigh in this afternoon and on my scale I'm about the same, maybe a pound less???

My weigh in is this afternoon so I will just wait and see what happens.

    Thanks for all the input!
