I was sleeved yesterday, home from the hospital today. I feel horrid. Every time I take a sip of something it hurts. They gave me a protein drink in the hospital and I couldn't drink more than 2 oz before I had to quit. I have had warm sugar free jello which wasn't as bad but even sipping water has been painful. I feel like I need to burp all the time and can't. Is all this normal?

It will get better eachh day. I was only allowed clear liquids for the first 7 days. The protien drinks can be hard on your new tummy. Popscicles are good and count and your liquids. Keep sipping . try different temps of water.. It might like one better than the other.
    Hang in there!!

Is the pain from gas or is it in your pouch? I had mine a week ago. I remember a terrible tightness in my chest. The burping is normal. From the gas. The best advice I can give is walk. Walk. Walk. Every hour if you can. Do laps around the nurses. It helps so much. I wish you the best.

I walked around those nurses all night long :) I just kept moving, and it made all the difference in the world.

I was at Dr. Kim's Thursday for my one-year follow-up.  Were you part of the Friday crew?

Wow, you are home quick. Forget the shakes right now. Drink only clear broth for about a week. 2oz maximum in a 15 min time period. Your stomach is around the size of a bubble tea straw and swollen. Don't force anything dense into it just yet. I didn't even think of protein until I was 10 days out. Just concentrated on liquids and with some unflavored protein to my jello. Take very small sips of room temperature flavored water, since most people, including myself can't stomach plain water after surgery. Chamomile or decaffeinated tea is good too, as long as it is clear and plain. The pain can also be from the gas. I was in terrible pain for 7 days, before the gas finally dissipated. It will get better, and I won't lie. The first week is definitely the hardest by far. Good luck.
