Ok so since I had surgery I have done other types of excercise. I would love to do situps. Ive tried... Believe me! They are painful.  No matter what I do either the excess skin above the tailbone gets pinched or the tailbone hurts. I would love to know how everyone else overcomes this.

I have lost 80 lbs., which apparently included the padding around my tailbone!  So I feel your pain.  I don't have any suggestion for you, but wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Yep, I'm there with you. My tailbone takes a beating. I've never had much padding there and its even worse now! I do Pilates and its in a constant state of bruised!!

I run and do upper body strength training, so I avoid the tailbone altogether.

I bought an Ablounge... its soft on the bottom .. kind of like a hammock that  jacknifes ( and also  tilts backwards a bit ) .  Its INCREDIBLY useful for  doing  upper -and lower abs  working , deep situps , for  doing diagonal situps that whitle Ur waist and create an  EXTRA girdle of muscle so tthe gut doesn't pooch out ..

it even works the  back  strong cords that BALANCE the  abs in the front ... and can be used to work the SIDES ..

I would say hands down its the best piece of exercise equipment I ever bought ...  mainly because it makes  situps (  which I DETEST )  comfortable and somewhat fun ...

AND its VERY effective .  Have never  felt any tailbone pressure  .. but try for Urself at the Sports Authority ( they cost about 160  bux)

We HAVE to do situps ! The core is SO important !!

Hello Mini!  What a pretty Kittie!
I have to say ....  our core muscles are VERY important  .. Those of us with  back issues have to keep our core muscles strong ..  or the back issues we have are compunded!  Our Core is essential  for many  functions  in our daily movements and living!  If your Not able to ab lounge.. Tai chi and pilaites in a pool works too!  NO pressure on any body part. The YMCA if your close hav heated pools if your have one close by.  IF  a student or  Not fat in the wallet they have a sliding scale  for  cost. Some qualify for  Free!
Post op we all need to Move more ... and  how ever you can do it  and not hurt works best!!
