I had Gastric Bypass 4 months ago.  I noticed at about 8 weeks out that I would get a "cramp" or "stitch" under my rib if I stood or walked to long.  Over the last 2 months I noticed the pain got worse and more frequent...now it bothers me even when I just sit.  I stood up from my chairt work and felt a "pull"--alomost like and elastic snapped.  Any ideas....pain will not subside.  Ready to go to ER...anyone else ever have anything like this??

STEPH-Did you go? Did you at least call your doctor? PLEASE never ignore your body when it is talking to you, and do not let anyone else ignore it either. Nursing 101..back when dinosaurs walked the earth..taught me "pain is what the PATIENT says it is". You MUST be your own best advocate.

Now..for the location of your pain. My best guess..and it's a guess...this is a laptop..not a CT scanner...the left side is where the majority of the surgery "action" takes place..lots of trauma on the guts there...you could have adhesions growing there, that are stretching and then pulling back into place-much like a rubber band...if they are "simple adhesions" there's not a whole lot to be done-they usually get better--BUT--you need to be sure--adhesions can also wrap around a bowel, choke it off, kill the bowel, make you toxic..and well..kill you...

So..did you call your doctor?? Not here to scare you-just to keep you safe!

I am about 3 weeks out from my surgery and am having the same issues, rather annoying. Tonight I am having them just sitting down, sometimes they are sharp, plus I have been sneezing and oh lord! I guess I should call my dr on mon and see what he says?!?!?
Let me know how it goes for you!
