Weight Loss Surgery Directory

A few days too late... oh well

So as I was going through the hassle of trying to get a doctor to refer me, I missed out on the date of the next educational seminar that I could attend. I already knew the seminar in April was full, and I called last week and was told I could enroll in the seminar in May, but as I was talking to the girl on the phone, I decided at the last minute to wait until I made sure I had a doctor to refer me.

So I get a call today from the surgeon's office saying they got a referral letter from my new doctor. (YAY!!!) I was glad to hear that and said I was ready to enroll in the educational seminar..... Unfortunately, the seminar in May is already full. It had filled up since I last talked to her, but I could enroll in the June seminar.  So I signed up for that one.  I'm not all that bummed because at least I'm moving forward.

So my question for all of you WLS Vets ... What can I do in the next two months to help move things along? Any advice is welcome and appreicated?

well you could put your name on the list for cancellations. I would read all the forums of all 4 surgeries so you can educate yourself. NOt all doctors do all four surgeries so you need to find out which one you want and not just what he DOES.
Read up on every thing you can to prepare yourself.  Once you get through the seminar, things should move right along.  You might ask them if there is a webinar you could watch online.  My surgeon allowed that through is weightloss website.  However, before choosing the surgeon I have decided on, I did attend another groups weight loss seminar.  Maybe they will allow that as well.  Best of luck and hang in there...even though I know the wait isn't easy.
I see you live in oklahoma, as do I, who are wanting to use?  I am using the weightwise clinic in Edmond....  Have you thought about going to a different surgeon to speed things along, or are you set on a specific place? (not saying you should just curious....)

Well, I live in tulsa, so it's most conveinent to go with Surgical Associates... Because I have medicare/medicaid, they are affliated with Saint Francis ("Center of Exellence)". I'm literally walking distance from the hosptial and surgeon's office. The surgeon I have chosen is Dr. Katsis. I have been at least overweight since I was a preteen... I can wait a couple more months.

I just hope it's a quick couple of months... I'm just tired of being uncomfortable and "big" (my family's word for saying I'm fat... I think they should say what they mean).
