I'm 5'5. 190 lbs and my fitness pal says I need 45 g protein daily but somehow that number seems really, really low

ASMBS guidelines
(which is where many surgeons GET their recommendations for you) state:
  • 1,000 to 1,400 calories depending on the individual and activity level.
  • 60 to 100 grams of protein depending on the individual and activity level.
  • 27 to 47 grams of fat based on 20 to 35 percent of a daily 1,200-calorie intake.

Thank you. I thought it was kinda on the low side. I usually get between 80-100 depending on what kinda day I'm having and I guess it's not a problem unless I start gaining weight.

Get your labs tested. Play around with protein and then retest. That should tell you how many grams your body actually needs for optimal levels. Nobody can tell you exactly what you need, only your labs can.

At or below 100 gr my blood level of protein get low normal. I need 120-150 gr to get into mid normal level,  With low normal level of proteins I feel tired more than if the proteins are bit higher.
