Weight Loss Surgery Directory

    First time posting. Hi!

Read many of your posts and it is amazing how much weight you all have lost.  I had  Roux-en-Y in July of 2011 with Dr. Houseworth in Seattle.

It was the best thing I ever did.  I have lost over 120 lbs.  Still need to lose about 45 lbs.  It sure is a life changer.  I went from eating because it was something to do because of stress and depression to eating because I have to in order to survive.  I also went from barely being able to walk to my car to walking three miles a day.

I have done all of this with out a support group, but I think it is time to reach out to a good community.  It is hard doing this alone.  Not sure if I am making sense by stating that.

Any way, I look forward to reading more of your success stories!
    Corina,

This is a great community because its not all success stories.  I like it because so many of us have failures and low points. We turn to our peers for advice.  I also like the fact that there are different types of forums.  You said at one time you suffered from depression.  This may sneak back up on you and there is a mental health forum here.  the state boards are good for get togethers for people in your area.  maybe you would want to do a 5k and need advice to train.  see the options!!!

I met some great people on my state board and we get together regularly.  i know right, meeting Internet ppl in real life and they arenice!

    come here often!

The depression has already struck.  It is a life long battle that will never go away.  I have just had a shift in how I eat in relation to it.  Thank you for pointing out the mental health forums.  I some how missed them.

I do have a desire to start running soon. Thank you for the information.  I will look that up. :-)
     Hi Corina,

Glad you found this site. The information and support on this site is amazing. It is really helpful to have lots of information while waiting and prepping for surgery. There is also great support for post surgery as well. Another great site is http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com, she has tons of great recipes for after surgery and a fun blog to read.  I am just north of Seattle in the Snohomish area. :)
