    I think it's a French word.  It's a French pronunciation.

    It is, MsBatt.

    Roux is also a cooking method...it's the basis for all the sauces they add to stuff...made of flour and fat (usually butter).

    Yes, the cooking 'roux' immediately came to mind. I'm big on sauces myself. (*grin*)
