We're grilling bacon-wrapped shrimp, hamburgers, hot dogs, and marinated veggies. We're also having baked beans, BBQ ribs, a tossed salad fresh from the garden, cole slaw, deviled eggs, watermelon, and home-made ice cream (made with Splenda and heavy cream.)

    Damn, I love my DS!
Have you ever butterflied the shrimp and put 1/4-1/2 tspn pesto in before wrapping with bacon?  I swiped that from Eggface, and when we grill it on the boat, people come from down the lake to see if we have any to spare!

Oh my. Now I'm going to have to go buy more shrimp! We do usually drizzle garlic butter over them while they cook.
We're grilling BBQ ribs (NOT fat free, ) and I haven't decided on the rest of the menu yet...it's just the two of us and the ribs with a veggie drenched in butter will be all we need.

    Dang, I MY DS.

Ever do veggies on the grill? We matinate onions, peppers, cauliflower, etc. in Italian dressing, then toss them on the grill. They are SOOOO good!
OH, yeah but no fresh veggies in the house and between paychecks...it has to be what's on hand. That means canned or frozen...prefer frozen tho.

I've even grilled fruit (peaches/pears) on a grill....bathed in Italian dressing. TO DIE FOR!!!

We had our cookout yesterday since my sweet son had to work today.  We had grilled chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausage.  We had fresh corn, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, and cabbage from the garden.

Then, we had some not so healthy desserts available.  My sister made homemade ice cream, my mom made homemade blueberry turnovers with fresh blue berries from my daddy's little orchard.  I made a low sugar pound cake that turned out pretty good.

    Happy Memorial Day!

wow it all sounds so good !
Are those radishes in your profile picture?  If so, they look sooo good.  Did you grow them?
Yes I did .  It  blows me away how ridiculously easy it is to do .. and keep the produce coming year after year  too .

Right now I just scarfed down sweet peas , cherires and  a double handful of gorgeous perfect sweet  strawberies from the garden..  and egyptian onion ( perennial ) topsets ....

It amazes me that I no longer head for the refrigerator after an exhausting day ..

    I head for the garden

where I can relax  and swing and nibble to my hearts content

We always have a garden too.  I love all of the fresh produce.  But, I have never tried to grow radishes.  May have to give that a whirl.  Yours were pretty.  Probably had lots of flavor too.  We had a cabbage the other day that was the size of a basketball.  Man, that was the best cabbage.
I made THAI food! Chicken Satay that I just learned to make by kinda winging it. Turned out pretty good.
It's all I'm actually hungry for lately... Thai and Indian foods. So much for "All American," huh?!
We were hanging out on Camano Island, and decided to really eat locally, so we dropped a bunch of crab pots in the water.

We have LOTS of crab. Mostly Dungeness. And a keg of hard pear cider.
Some times dingle berries are the lowest hanging fruit.
Wow  U actually CATCH  crab ?!!  thats SO cool !!!!!!  I don't know where Camano island is but I'm picturing coconuts ...  jasmine rice .. Thai spices ...

    Idyllic !
