I call to schedule my Upper GI and the YOUNG girl on the phone tells me before I can get an appointment I must first have my records sent from the last two Gastro docs I have seen. Mind you the Upper GI I test is drink the glow in the dark liquid and stand infront of an x ray camera for a paparazzi experience. This is the test I need and this girl tells me they cannot do the test until they have "evaluated" my medical files from those two doctors. One was my original RNY in 2008. One is from a liver disease I had taken care of in 2000. I saw that doctor for one year while I was being treated and never afterwards. She tells me they have to evaluate whether I should go back to one of those doctors (400 miles away) or if they were willing to let me have the test done here. I kept trying to reason with the girl, we are talking about 12 years ago, yes, yes, we are talking 400 miles away, yes yes, You know what kind of test it is right, yes yes, You know my PCP is a REAL doctor who ordered the test right, yes, yes. I called the surgeons office and got them to referr me to one of thier doctors and wha la, I have a test on tuesday without handing over my medical records from birth to date. I can't wait tilll someone from her office calls me to schedule the appt and I tell them they lost my business and why and because of whom. It's not like she was sheepish and just doing her job either. She was snippy and kept referring to the doctors as her doctors. ("my doctor will have to ....") just venting, And last week a more mature sounding woman called to schedule the appt and I said I would have to call her back when I found a ride, wouldn't she have told me then?
