    What are you eating?

Had my one month appointment.  Given the go ahead to go back to regular foods, caution with  raw veggies.  What did you all do when you went back to regular food?  Tolerate salads and fruits ok?

I eat a lot of cottage cheese (mixed with s.f. jello powder and pineapple), oatmeal, all kinds of meat and chicken, cheese, various veggies, 3 glasses of milk a day, fish once in awhile.

I don't have a problem with salad and eat it every once in awhile as long as I have a lot of turkey or other protein with it.

I stay away from bread and potatoes.  Don't eat a whole lot of fruit because basically I start with protein, then veggies and only then if I have room I add a good carb like fruit.  But most times I am too full.

It takes some time to find out what works for you.  Some post ops have trouble with chicken and eggs early on.  I found if something got stuck, I would try it again in a few weeks.  There is not too much that I can't tolerate now.

Yes U CAN have a thoroughly bikini worthy body post op ..but U have to eat right  AND move ...

    U CAN do it !!!
I think it really varies and especially depending on the surgery you had. I would post on the Rny forum, if I were you.

I had the VSG and didnt' have room for salads for MONTHS - a year even. but I don't think that is typical.

the clean eating group is not about weight loss and you don't have to be a vegetarian (although if you are, that's OK)
if you think organic and less processed food is better, consider joining
I don't always eat clean but I want to learn.

Yes, I tolerated salads and fruits just fine.  Just like all foods that were tried.

My first salad was romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes and chicken with salad dressing.....YUM.
I chewed each bite well.  It sure helps with keeping me regular :)

At a month out I had a hard time just getting in all my protein.  However, as time went on I was able to have some veggies/salads as a side to my meal.  I have no issue with any type of food now (although I did have some issues with fatty foods throughout the journey).

Typical eating for me now is as follows:

Breakfast - 2 eggs and one slice multigrain toast (it usually takes me about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour to eat this...I had to get used to eating cold food).

Lunch - 1c salad (low fat dressing) with 2oz chicken (takes about 1/2 hour to eat)...if I'm in a hurry or if I can't sit and eat for a long time I'll usually skip the salad and just have the chicken

Dinner - a protein (chicken/fish/steak/turkey) with a veg (no starches)...again I usually take about 1/2 an hour to eat this.

Snacks - 1/2 apple with cheese (or a whole apple with no cheese) / grapes / almonds

I always try to eat my protein first but I do find the I need some carbs or more accurately fiber to help keep me regular.

Just remember at this early stage to chew, chew, chew.  Eat a small amount (i.e. 1oz of protein) see how it sits and then have more (if you want it) in 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour if the first oz sits OK.

    Good luck.

Vegetables and fruits that's the only food I eat. :)
