Aetna requires a 3 month diet that is supervised by a nutritionist. Each visit was about an hour long.
The first visit was just an education about Protein and how and why your body needs it. She set me a goal of 70 grams a day and to talk about my food weaknesses and think of ways to avoid my pitfalls.
Second Visit weighed in saw some weightloss, education about carbs and how my body processes carbs, and the second goal was to reduce carbs to less than 150 per day
Third Visit was a little longer, weighed in and it was all about the pre-op diet and post op diet. Talked about all the diet phases and how to get through them.
Your physical Eval will talk about what your body will be like post surgery and how to keep your strength and build your strength as well as document all your measurements.
The overall goal of the diet plan is to get your body ready for the surgery and I was never told, but other peoples insurance requires a true attempt at weight loss for the surgery to be approved so I followed the nutrition advice strictly so that I was approved.
