Help! My post-op abcess has 'blown'

Oh dear lord in heaven this is just gross. I can't move but it seems to start again - & I daren't put pressure on it like bend over cause it feels like my insides are going to get squirted out!

Oh I know this is TOTALLY nauseating & I'm quite sure you guys are thinking 'WAY too much information love...' but this is a complication of WLS I'm in real misery here! - trust me this is awful!

On the up side I can now move about a bit easier & although I'm still in pain its now manageable - though still on the strong ones - but trouble is you can't do anything because it keeps leaking through everything & I end up with a big soggy mess of pus on my t-shirt. And I'm paranoid about how it must smell - SO embarrassing - but my mum assures me that I just smell of antiseptic lol!

I guess I should just be grateful I'm on the mend & I can at least get comfortable & have a good nights sleep but really, you should see it, its like my stomach is now deformed because all the tissue that the infection has spread through is all pitted, mottled & misshapen. And of course my wound has completely opened up again so I have a good inch of a hole in my abdomen.

Apologies again for the grossness of it all.

    Cxx

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope you are better soon.

Don't feel bad sharing this stuff. You never know who may learn from. It!

Thanks Sue. It's just who else is there to talk about this stuff with? I guess WLS can be a bit gross for everybody at times - though maybe not this gross lol! - & people on here are more tolerant & understanding than I've given them credit for xx
It sounds like those antibiotics are working!!  You will start to feel so much better in another 24 hours.

Thanks Judy...when its yourself its very hard to be objective like that so its helps just to be reminded about something like that xx
Maxi pads make the perfect bandagees for seepage

Valerie - you are a genius. Thankyou!! X
This is SOOO true. One of my incisions came open and was leaking out a clear/pink-ish liquid. It would leak like mad. The only thing that kept me from being soaked was maxi pads!!

Bless your heart!  One way to look at it I reckon, gross though it be, is that now that the abscess has burst, every cc of seepage is just that much closure to complete healing.  Hang in there....we're all thinking and praying for you!!!
I suggest a diaper or pad under an ace bandage wrapped loosely around your belly. At least you can move about.

    Best wishes.

Thankyou! Diaper is definitely a good idea for tonight. I haven't tried a bandage but a friend has lent me one of those stretchy medical corsets for back pain? Holds the dressing on nice & tight & stops it from leaking - for a while!

But you are right. Physically I'm much easier & more comfortable. And I guess I won't know how much scarring there's going to be until the infection is all cleared up & its healed xx
Thanks Heidi. Did you get some surgical work done? I've been thinking about that once I get to my target - but this experience has given me second thoughts!
Do you mind me asking what? Xx
    Oh...my...god. That's truly incredible. I'm dumbstruck.
You must be (rightfully) so proud of that...think you've just cured my recently acquired aversion to surgery! Thankyou xx
Thanks for sharing Hiedi. What a tremendous transformation. You should be very proud! I can't wait to be able to have surgery when I get to goal!

Thanks! WLS was for health, Plastics was for sanity.
What was your recovery time like?
