    Your Stitches...How long to Heal?

Thankfully my staples are being taken out on Monday. Now that my surgery drain is gone, this will go a long way to making me feel normal again.

Right now they are as itchy as all get out! When did you feel your surgery wounds were finally healed? And you didn't worry about sneezing or laughing and having them break open again? lol! :)
Oh that sucks.  I was glued all of the way down...no stitches or staples at all.

Valerie, lucky girl. They are so darn itchy! And they look horrible.

I had open RNY & posted pix of my scar on my blog on here. Check them out. My scar healed up so quickly. I wasn't afraid of the staples breaking, but I did hold a little pillow over my tummy over the incision just in case when I got up out of bed. When my staples were removed, I didn't even feel it. No pain, no nothing (& I received no numbing agents or anything). I started using derma-e scar gel about a week after I got my stitches out.

How are you feeling?? I've been thinking about you! Hope you're heaps better!

I did have a drain, but never staples so for me it was easy.

i'd say the fact that they are itchy is a good sign: healing!!

No drain, no staples or stitches,  just glue!    Itching means they are healing, so you are good to go.
The itching is a good thing, it means you are healing.  Holding a pillow over your incision is a good thing when you get up or when you cough or sneeze.  It's called splinting and it will not only be protective but it will help with discomfort when you are doing those things.
As far as your staples are concerned, I always tell my patients that if there is any pain at all, it usually feels like plucking your eyebrows.  Most don't have any pain though.
i was lucky and had no drains or staples, just glue, but I did end up with an infected incision.
I am a month post op and I can finally say I feel like I am healed.  No more scabs no more drainage, just kind of scar tissue that I am hoping will reduce with time.

Thanks so much everyone. It's good to know that at some point, I will begin to feel myself again.
