Day 5 of my liquid diet. (a little tmi)

I just scared the ever loving crap out of my cat by letting out that last little gas pocket

So, today the scale did not move.  That is ok, I know my clothes are fitting better.  Today I actually went out to a restaurant with my husband.  I had iced tea with some artificial sweetner and chicken matzoball soup.  When the waiter brought the soup, I went ahead and scooped out the matzoball and chicken chunks and put them on a plate for my husband to eat.  I then ate the broth that was left.  He felt so guilty getting a patty melt with fries in front of me.  I was not angry or tempted for either.  I did however want to suck on the pickle sitting on his plate.  But other than that, no cravings today. I have had two coffee protein shakes with the instant decaft Tasters Choice packets.  I made too much and now have a shake for later in the fridge.  I also had a strawberry shake for breakfast.

On to the bad stuff.  Gas is insane.  I have had the hiccups 3 times today.  We went to Target for a few things and  once I got to the register I had to run to the bathroom.  I ended up with really watery diarreha that lasted about 10 minutes.  I had only had one shake at that time.  I have noticed my BM's are soft and easy to pass, but this was something else.    One thing I have noticed is that when I do go, I leave stains in the bowl. I feel bad whoever went in that stall behind me in Target.
I am posting these as a diary and a note of advice to people waiting for surgery.  Not everyone will have the same problems or "symptoms" that I am having.    It is tough, I will not lie, but the payoff in the end is  so worth it.  A month from now, I will be eating eggs, cottage cheese, refried beans and cream soups.  And they will taste heavenly!
You, I've mistaken for destiny, but the truth is my legacy is not up to my genes...

20AUG12-8AM SURGERY AT ST.JOES IN TORONTO  W/ DR SMITH

I did Optifast shakes for three weeks pre-surgery.  We are told by our bariatric centre to take 3 or 4 Metamucil capsules per shake.  It helps with the diarrhea.  It is the same advice if you are constipated.

Good luck and you may want to have a purse sized bathroom spray with you.

I am in the same position. I am three weeks away from a revision and about to go totally liquid. Funny, it seemed so much easier the first time around, but certain I will master it. Great outlook on what is too come...
LOL!  Your post made me laugh!  I am on day 19 of an Optifast liquid diet.  Going in for a revision on Wednesday (RNY).  It was hard the first time I had to do this diet but back then it was yogurt and nothing but for two weeks...still can't eat the stuff.  However  three weeks of this crap is hard!!!  I went from sharting to constipation-great!  And from what I can recall....the fun is just beginning but then again I am already 15 lbs down so bring it on!  Good luck with the surgery!
