Weight Loss Surgery Directory

    so tired of waiting!

It has been over two weeks since insurance has been faxed everything. Waiting is killing me! I want to start the pre op now! I start school august 20th and want to be able to have my surgery before then.

Have you called the insurance company and asked for a status update?  Ask them if anything is missing from your paperwork.  You may be pleasantly surprised.

    Give it a try.

    Good morning!

It's absolutely appropriate for you to call!  I work in health insurance and I've never ever been bothered by either a member or a provider checking on a claim or having an inquiry about benefits and authorizations.

Mondays are busy days, so call first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon.  I HOPE you are pleasantly surprised!

I'm not saying that your drs. office is like this but if you read some of the boards, there are stories of office not faxing when they said they did.

It is also smart to follow up with the insurance and ask if they have had time to review your case.  If they have and the insurance just hasn't had time to mail the approval letter ask them to fax you a copy.

I have to been waiting on the insurance to approve my wls and just today i talked to the surgeons office and they told me the insurance company asked for the paperwork to be faxed again. So frustrating
Can I ask how long the whole process has taken for you?  I just put in my application for evaluation for the DS procedure, my insurance covers it to.
I called insurance and they recieved everything the 18th of july. They said it was still under review and there was nothing noted of anything missing. I got pre approved in the begining so i am hoping i get approved. They had me do 4 months of supervised weight management, phyc eval, and 2 years of documented weight.
