8 Days post op. have questions

I am 8 days post op and I was wondering how much fluid were you able to get in at this point. I am no way dehydrated but I cant get in the 64oz in a 24 Hr period.I have lost a total of 10 lbs since surgery. and I have been stalled in the last three days. pls help.

You're NOT stalled---you're normal. A 'stall' is when you go for at least FOUR WEEKS without losingf weight or inches.

You'll be much happier if you throw your scales away now.
You are totally normal. I had a really hard time to get the fluids in when I was at the same stage that you are. Do not compare yourself to others and weight loss as your body is trying to heal itself.

A true stall is no weight loss or inches lost in a 30 day time frame. Your body is just taking a break at the moment and is trying to heal. Remember that you have been through major surgery.

Every day is not a "weight loss day" in the post op process.  64 oz of water is ok, but if you can drink a little more, it will help remove toxins from your body.  3 days no wt loss is not a stall by any means. DAVE

Normal. Just keep taking small sips constantly throughout the day and get in as much as you can. I agree with other post. Don't keep getting on the scale. weight only once per week. Good luck!

As everyone has said...you're right on track!  Don't think numbers when it comes to weight loss.  Everyone is unique in their own weight loss journey.  Concentrate on the small goals-like fitting into a pair of slacks that you couldn't get on before, etc.  That's a fine way of 'seeing' your progress.  Leave the numbers to your followup doctor visits or maybe once a month!

As for the 64 oz of fluids...that's very tough in the beginning.  Again...like everyone said-your body has had major surgery and you are healing.  My doctor gave me little one ounce medicine cups in the hospital.  I made sure I drank one of those every 1/2 hour or so.  It made it easier and kept me from getting dehydrated.  Dehydration is THE BIG THING-so, try that and see if it works for you!

    Best of luck !

I had my surgery on 7/11/12 and it is still a daily struggle for me to get 32 oz of liquid in a day. Water makes me nauseated and I completely can't stand anything sweet right now, so I am trying to find something I can tolerate to drink enough of. Hang in there you are doing good. And the weight for me has been slow in my opinion but my doctor told me it is right on target. Some people lose more than others quicker because of the amount of weight they have to lose etc....Don't be discouraged just keep doing what you are doing and the scales will keep moving!
