WEIGHT GAIN 1 WEEK POST OP VSG

My surgery was Monday August 13.  I weighed in today and I GAINED 8 pounds since my pre-op weight!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD? Could it be water weight and weight from the IV's?  I have done everything required.  I have been getting at least 70 grams of protein (via Isopure) and have only had very small bites of sugar free jello and a little broth.  Am I doing anything wrong?  I won't technically be one week post op until Monday but WHY the gain? Please help!
It is more than likely from the surgery - water from IV, fluid buildup from the trauma of surgery, and your body holding on to what it can while it heals itself.  It is quite common :)

yes, right. you'll experience that at first but as you go on, there will be improvements :)

I just found another post about post op IV fluid weight gain.  There have been many of you who said you gained from the IV fluid and then lost one week post op.  I'll wait until my follow-up to see!!!  ENCOURAGEMENT IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

Don't stress...it is most likely from all the fluid they pumped you with during and after surgery. I had a fainting episode after surgery as a result of dehydration so when I left the hospital I was 15 pounds heavier than the day before! It all came off very quickly.

    Good luck to you!

Weight gain is more than likely due to = fluid retention from the IV.

Give yourself time and it will go away. I gained 30# with my RNY .
