Hi all, I am one week away from my surgery and have been on Optifast for two weeks now.  I am having bad headaches and some Bp crashes.  Any suggestions?  I am afraid to eat anything not on the list because what if they don't operate because I ate?  Has anyone ever heard of a RNY bring cancelled over Optifast?

 I've not heard of that happening over Optifast - however unstable blood pressure can cancel a surgery, so  I'd call and tell them what's happening with you.  They may recommend a different diet and you've got plenty of time to regulate your bP in time.. 

 I am almost finished the optifast and three days away from surgery.  I am not sure about the blood pressure problem and agree I would seek advice.  In terms of the headaches, this may be from caffeine withdrawal if you were a regular coffee drinker.  I found I was getting headaches and if I drank more water they went away so I would suggest you make sure you get in the amount of water you are supposed to drink as well as the Optifast.  Do not eat anything not on the list because I as told if your liver doesn't look as they want it to when they go in they WILL pull out and not do the surgery.  This fact kept me honest.

 I think you were right on about the caffeine, I am not a coffee drinker...my poison was Pepsi!  I have just finished my three weeks and even though it was tough I know it will be worth it.  My surgery is on Monday:)

 You go girl!!!  lol  Three weeks on Optifast, you should get a medal!!  Good luck on your surgery Monday.  I'll be right behind you on Tuesday.  Glad my comment helped:)
