Sooo...anyone else dealing with osteopenia/osteoporosis? Taking Reclast?

That's right, at 6.5 years out I have early stage osteoporosis. It does run in my family, but I also didn't take my calcium faithfully enough (sometimes I would, then I'd go awhile and wouldn't take it for awhile), plus I drank diet soda, which now I am reading leaches calcium from the bones.

My hematologist says he wants to use Reclast to rebuild what I've lost in my hip and spine. Anyone have any experience with this treatment?

I had my first infusion last May so it's too early to know how effective it was.  The day after was miserable.  I hurt all over and could not leave my bed.  The next day I was fine.

Thanks for the reply! I keep hearing that it causes discomfort. I may take the day off work when I have my first one. Any other issues for you, or was that it?

I only needed one day off after my infusion.  I heard that after the first time it gets better.  It was funny how bad it was the day after and then the day after that I was perfectly fine.  I had no other issues except you aren't supposed to have any teeth extracted after it and I did have my teeth extracted 8 months later but so far there hasn't been any problems.  Other then that I haven't noticed any difference.  We'll see in May if it helped.  I'm scheduled for another DEXA scan then and if there is improvement I will have another infusion.
