Polycystic Ovaries PreOp (xposted)

Around the beginning of the year I started having really bad pelvic pain that sometimes left me lying in bed for the duration (usually during ovulation). After a couple months I decided to go see my OBGYN (who I love). I told him what was going on and he scheduled me for a pelvic ultrasound for the following week and then a follow up apt for 2 weeks later. I got the results at that follow up apt which was the last week of April. The ultrasound showed that both of my ovaries are polycystic. My dr put me on BC pills and told me to come back in 2 months for another ultrasound. I was only able to take the BC pills for the first month because they gave me crazy mood swings and I go back to see him the first week of July. I've still been having a lot of pain, especially during ovulation or when I've been walking around holding my son (weighs 45lbs). It comes and goes and usually, but not always, ibuprofen helps a lot. Today was pretty bad pain wise and I'm pretty sure that the ultrasound will show no improvement and then we'll discuss what comes next. Have any other ladies been through this? What was your experience? TIA!!

There is a PCOS board here you should visit.

Weight loss can help stabilize some PCOS related things, but I got the DS in part because it best addresses metabolic issues and PCOS. I didn't expect complete remission of all of the related stuff like the dark patches on the skin, the skin tags or hairs sprouting in really unwanted places like my chin. Very happy to say complete remission of all of it as well as all other co-morbidities I had related to obesity. I don't understand the hormone changes with the DS well, but I recall reading something that a surgeon had written on it, and I'll try and link it here where he explains the metabolic effect of the DS.

I wish I had a magic solution to tell you to get through the pain, but at this point I'm just praying for menopause to end it.

My advice would be to find a BC pill that doesn't give you mood swings!!!   There are a gazillion of them out there and it often takes a month or two of trying to find one that suits you ...    Taking them for one month and giving up is not really trying to resolve the issue and if the pain is that bad, it would benefit you to really give it a try ...
