Weight Loss Surgery Directory

I ALREADY STOPED LOOSING AND IT'S ONLY BEEN 17 DAYS SINCE MY SURGERY.

I AM SO FRUSTRATED. I LOST 14 POUNDS THE FIRST 13 DAYS AND NOW I AM NOT LOOSING ANY MORE WEIGHT AN I AM STILL ON THE FULL LIQUID DIET. I KEEP THINKING, IF I AM NOT LOOSING WEIGHT NOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN I GO ON BLENDED OR SOLID FOOD. I ALSO HAVE A HARD TIME WHEN I SEE FOOD OR WHEN I SEE OTHERS EATING. DOES ANY BODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHY I AM NOT LOOSING ANY MORE WEIGHT?
Your body is still in shock. You will start melting very soon. It is when you are far out and you stop for months it gets frustrating. You have touched you 1st plateau, however this one is not one to worry about. Good luck. Dawn -113
Because your body has to catch up with the new you. Alot has changed and your body will adjust every few weeks to the changes that are going on metabolically. Stop weighing everyday weigh once a week and thats ALL. Stop worrying and start living.
Hi,I experienced the same thing for about 1 week but then it started going down again.I just upped my walking and drinking more water.Good luck to you.
Wait until you are on pureed to see a difference. I did liquid for ten days and now am on pureed for 10 weeks. Although I am doing "soft" foods not neccessarily pureed. I lost 20 in ten days on liquid and stalled first week of puree and stalled second week. I took a look at what I was eating. Too many carbs for one. I raised my protein, lowered my carbs, raised my calories and excersized a teensie bit more. I think my bod was in starvation mode.. I bet that is what yours is doing too. Oh also.. my liquids like chicken broth and such were high sodium so you might be hanging onto water. Don't worry, think good thoughts it will happen! :P S
Don't worry I plateaued at about 3 weeks out and after about another week it starts again. I know how you feel though, I thought at that point Oh My Gosh! What if I did this surgery and only lost 20#s. Heck I can loss that without the surgery. I had surgery 8/11/04 and have lost 73#s so far.Relax and enjoy your new life! Good Luck, Leslie
Atousa, Not to worry. This is a pattern we all go through. You may lose weight for a time and then you don't for a while. Several things are going on. Your body metabolism just shuts down a bit thinking it is starving and trying to survive by perserving fat. It passes. Sometimes the body stops dropping lbs as it drops the inches instead. Don't drive yourself crazy; try to take in all your water and protein and things will get started again. In the beginning you will have more weeks that you lose weight, so make the best of it by following your meal plans and exercise as strictly as you can. Good luck. JG
HI! ATOUSA: I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE GOING THRU, I HAD MY SURGERY BACT IN SEPTEMBER ON THE 21TH AND I FEEL LIKE I HAVE STOPED ALSO. I HAVE LOST 30 POUNDS SINCE MY SURGERY. HOPEFULY NOW THAT I'M WALKING EVERY OTHER DAY FOR TWO MILES WILL HELP GET LOSING PROCESS BACK ON TRACK SO HANG ON IN THERE WHEN YOUR CLOTHES START GETTING LOSER AND FALLING OFF YOU WILL SEE AND IT WILL BE GREAT. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP
Its only been 16 days since your surgery and you said you've lost for the first 13 days so you've only been not losing for 3 days? Try to calm down cuz this will happen ALOT on this journey. Your not even a month out yet and your body needs time to catch up to the weight loss. Just sit back, relax and don't freak out when you go a couple days without losing, it will happen many more times to come, trust me, your not done by a long shot. Hugs, Deejay 257/195/150 -62
Just about everybody loses in spurts, My self included. I was sure when I stopped losing after 30 pounds that I was dooomed to be the only person ever in history to have major surgery to lose weight and only lose 30 #. I only lost weight about one week out of every month after the first few months. It comes off tho. I lost 135 pounds to beat any goal I had ever dreamed of. start 260 - 135 = 125! I never, ever, in my wildest dreams thought I would ever be less than 140. and it basically happened losing one week out of each month. go figure. good luck & hang in there.
What a wonderfully supportive post, willow. You just gave lots of us the boost we needed. Thanks
