I read the entirety of your today's blog entry - and even read the one about the 3 weeks of emotional stress and your stumble, the one you linkef to. And I totally get it.

A grammar school arithmetic problem that suddenly leaves me observing our own choices - what to eat, what to barter against the plan - swapping this choice with that one, our inner lawyer telling our inner judge how it's not truly relevant to the case... The case of "who's in charge, who's responsible" for this..

I'm thinking I need this in my kitchen.

Yes, it made me cringe at first - but I spent the time to read the entire entry and *thought* I had it, but then I read about the 3 weeks of emotional distress... And then, yes, I totally got it.

I realize how the picture you found on someone's Facebook page provided you the spark to stop your plunge towards possible failure.. I understand, but most people never got past the poster & the word "sister" and thought you had a cruel and callous person close to you who was the sort to take a photo of a"Nickie", probably a fellow college student, then put it up to make fun of a particular person...

Now, I don't know why she put this Internet find up on her page. I don't know her mind, but what matters is what one makes of it.. You & I had it strike us in an empowering way... But some here didn't. I must admit I was primed to see it the same way... but knowing you are only a few months out, I wanted to understand your current place on that journey.

So the pic of "Nina" that your sorority sister posted made you laugh? And you enjoyed it so much that you reposted it on your blog?

That's hardly "graciousness" in action. In fact, it's a whole heaping helping of fat shaming. Very unpleasant.

Thanks for saying so.  I was thinking the  same thing and trying to decide if I should speak up.  I'm sorry I hesitated because I believe we need to speak up whenever we see things like this.

The pic of Nina wasn't funny at all.  I assume she is wearing leggings because she likes them.  And she has as much right to wear them as anyone else.

Wow!   And you saw nothing wrong with your "sister" posting this on her FB (she sounds an absolute gem, BTW)?  Did you not wonder what she used to say about you when you were fat?

I think the most surprising aspect of this for me was that YOU found it so hilarious you put it on your blog about your weight loss journey?   I'll bet all the fat and formerly fat people here will be rushing to read it every month from now on ...  knowing how much contempt you have for fat chicks in leggings

So glad I was never part of sorority - if you two are an indication of the level of maturity it fosters  ...

I agree Kim.  This is fat shaming.  How can the OP be so un-supportive of people who have the same issues as the OP?

Additionally, I agree with  Kelly, this woman has the right to wear whatever clothes she wants to wear.  I have always admired the plus size women that rock the bikini at the beach.

Love yourself no matter what size you are--have the surgery to get healthy...and never, ever, forget where you came from. I will always be fat inside my heart.

ETA to correct a typo.

What does OP mean? Overweight/operative patient?

OP means original poster.  The poster that started this thread.
