I was between a 6.0-6.2 prior to surgery; I was on metformin.  1 month after surgery and off metformin, I was a 5.4!!!

I think my A1c at the time of surgery was in the range of 6.0-6.5, not too bad.  I was also taking 2000mg of Metformin every day and 10mcg of Byetta twice a day.  My A1c at 3 months out was 5.5; at 6 months out it was 5.1.   I was off all diabetes meds the day I went home from the hospital.

Pretty much identical for me, except my surgery A1C was closer to 7. At 18 months my A1C is 4.9

Mine was 7.4 at the time of surgery, I was on 500 mg metformin, glipized and Invokana. I've been off all these since surger, and my A1c is now 5.4. I suspect it will go down further since it has not been too long since I had surgery. My fasting glucose has been typically between 85 and 90 every morning.
