I had the lap band placed in 2003 and had to have it removed this past summer due to esophageal herniation.  I am in the process of getting everything done for gastric bypass.  Today i found out my TSH was 0.01.  I've never had issues with thyroid before.  Can this halt surgery?

I've been on Synthroid for years.  It never came up as an issue when discussing surgery with my doctor.  Are you on medication for it already?  Many people have thyroid irregularities.  Most doctors don't see it as a big deal if it's controlled with medication.

My TSH was only slightly off so my dr put me on a daily dose. I was only on it for a month and my blood work came back normal. I will continue to take it but

It had to be normal before my paperwork could be submitted to my insurance co. It's been a week just waiting to hear!

TSH 0.01 indicates Overactive Thyroid - your body may produce too much of thyroid hormone. You need follow up appointment with endocrinologist, and detailed blood work to see if that is the case or if your body stopped making TSH - which may be completely different issue..
