Wouldn't your surgeon be the best person to ask these questions? Shouldn't this have already been discussed?

I think she's asking for experiences as opposed to medical advice!   I doubt her surgeon will have had either the surgery nor type I diabetes and so won't be able to tell her how it has been living with it.

OP, I'll PM someone I know was on an insulin pump and type I and ask her to give you her experiences.

No, her surgeon is not the best person, her endo is the best person to control this.

My surgeons office told me to leave my insulin pump at home, my endo told me to wear it but adjusted. I wore mine.

Yes, I agree with some of her questions, but questions like: "I don't know how to treat it" and "is it safe" is really a question for a surgeon!

Hi there. I have type 1 diabetes and I am on a pump.  I currently have a lap band and I am having a revision to sleeve surgery on Friday.  My Endo has recommended that I take my pump off during surgery and they will maintain me with sliding scale doses of insulin until recovery.  For lows, Ive been told I can use the chewable sugar tablets since I won't be able to swallow juice quickly.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Difference in endo's! Mine told me to cut my bolus to 1/2 of normal and keep it on during surgery, so I did.

However, I am a type 2 but was on an insulin pump.

To the OP, while WLS will help lower insulin requirements in a type one, it will NOT eliminate the need for insulin as type one's no longer make their own and the human body needs insulin.
