Good Afternoon!

It has been awhile since i have been on OH but i am needing some help. I had RNY back in December of 2012 and I lost almost 100 pounds but I have put about 8 pounds back on within the last 8 months and I am struggling to get them off. I feel like I am needing help with meal planning or ideas on what everyone is eating etc.

I kind of feel lost in this jouney and when I call the doctors office they tell me to just stay under 1200 calories. I feel stressed and lost. Any input and help would be much appreciated

Lean meats, low fat cheese, clean and green.  The more dirt it had on it originally the better it probably was for you.  No growth hormones and as organic as possible.  I eat field greens, fat free chicken, fat free cheese, greek yogurt, fresh fruit, tree nuts, lots of Mexican inspired dishes with beans and lots of fresh salads now that the weather is warmer.  I try to eat locally grown vegetables all summer long as well as pick your own fruit.  I eat 1000 calories 5 days a week and 1500 on the weekends when I allow myself to have bagels and cream cheese from a local baker.

There is a daily "what are you eating today" thread on the RNY forum - I think most of the contributors are new post op, but they have some great food ideas that you could take note of - just nix the ones who eat Quest bars or have shakes as meal replacements!

My meals consist of all sorts of things - protein shakes ( that's usually my breakfast), Greek yogurt, cheese, beans, fruits, veggies, smoothies (I recently bought a new blender and am in love with smoothies right now), vegetarian chili, veggie burgers, occasionally things like pizza, I love soup although not so much in hot weather, salads, etc.

Kelly...do you count calories or measure your food? Do you eat when hungry or only on a schedule? I know an 8 pound weight gain isn't horrible but it's very concerning to me and I never got to my targeted wl goal so I am disappointed and need a kick start.. have you ever done the 5 day pouch test?

I don't see the point of the five day pouch test.  It's a five day fad diet for WLS patients.  Fad diets never worked before I had RNY, I don't see why they would work now.

I don't count calories on a regular basis.  I count them once in a while to know where I stand.  I eat about 1500 to 1600 calories a day to maintain my weight.

I do measure my food.  I eat about a cup at a time.  I eat when I'm hungry AND I eat about every three hours - so if I get hungry sooner, I eat sooner, but if I'm not hungry, I don't go much longer than three hours, I just eat something small.  My blood sugar tends to drop if I go much longer than that without eating a little something.

What kind of protein shakes do you do???

My favorite is Syntrax Nectar cappuccino.  I like it best in skim milk but I am trying to cut down on dairy so sometimes I use almond milk instead.

I also like Syntrax Nectar vanilla bean torte with other things - like sometimes I mix that with half skim milk, half diet root beer for a root beer float protein shake.

And I like Syntrax Matrix mint cookie sometimes.  Those are the three protein powders in my kitchen at the moment.
