Writing positive post

You know I have been there pre op, post op and living after.  I talk about my experiences and try to tell what helped me.  I am not telling anyone to do it.  Just what helped me.  I have posted  4 post.  Every single one of them ends up with someone having bad things to say, someone even had the nerve to say I was trying to fulfill my dreams by people putting before post up.  I don't mind if you tell me well maybe this is why they don't post a picture.   I don't need anyone's help at the moment.  I want to help you.  I am getting rather frustrated trying to be positive, telling people I will help you and then getting knocked around.  I have decided block is a useful tool.  I am not going to be reamed because I tell you what helped me.  My post are only suggestions.  If you are fearful of putting a picture up because it might end up on a ***** sight then don't.  Not sure why but OH people sure changed in last 10 years. Very few people were negative back then.  Sorry, I am a positive person.  I don't think negative thoughts like some do.

You are so right! Constant negativity helps no-one.  I read a post the other day which basically told someone that the PS she was considering was ugly, that the person asking was still too fat for surgery. And then compounded it by saying that she was OK herself  because her own abdominal area was great!

Really uncalled for

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Really Kate?  How can people be so cruel?  It must be a terrible insecurity to make them want to hurt someone who is looking for help.

You know Kate, I remember that post from the other day too!!  It was so rude and uncalled for and was helpful to no one.   And I think we both recall who made that post too!! LOL.

I agree, Kate. Constant negativity wears everyone down and isn't at all helpful.

I remember a post recently where someone told another that they were not at goal yet. I am still trying to figure out where the positivity was in that advice.

Really?  That sucks.  Only you and maybe your doctor should have any say in what your goal is... not some lame stranger on the internet.

I saw photos of people who had a panni and I am sorry to say it is not pretty as a tummy tuck.  I went in for a tummy tuck after I had lost all my weight.  Are you sure you are done losing.   I would give it more time to get closer to your goal.  Shop around.  If you have insurance many will cover TT if you have rashes that are bothersome.  I had a rash that wouldn't go away. It itched a lot.  I would shop around for a better price with a good doctor.  If it were me, I would wait until I could do it the right way.  I have the pretties tummy in the world.  Really my belly looks like a bikini model photo.  No I am not bragging.  I am actually amazed they took all that flab and made my belly so I didn't have a stretch mark at all.  This is my own personal opinion.  Unless you are 6 ft tall 185 is no way near goal.  Work out get closer to goal and do what will make you happy in the end.  You have a pani now and lose more weight you will have more flab and probably end up with another pani or tummy tuck.  Sorry to give you bad news but the picture I saw many years ago, the lady was in your shoes.  It was horrible.  It looked like she had a shelf.

You never made any comment about the post above, even when it was pointed out to you that it was mean ...   I think OH is a much gentler, kinder place than it was 5 or 10 years ago but it's still somewhere you are expected to "own" what you say ...   You may well have good intentions in your return to OH, but I think your delivery is lacking and you have been called out on it, that's all!

>>  I am not telling anyone to do it.

If this is the case, you might want to consider how you word your posts; your writing often comes off as very authoritative and instructional. Most of your posts and comments start with general advice, and then follow with your personal experience as though to back it up and explain how your advice is always true. "This worked for me, and I'm hugely successful, therefore it must be the best way."

Ex:

A panni is not as pretty as a tummy tuck. My tummy tuck was FABULOUS!

Looking at measurements instead of photos is encouraging. I stopped looking at the scale and BANG! I dropped 40lb!

Be patient with your psych eval. It's worth it, because I've maintained for 9 YEARS!

On the Internet, wording and presentation mean a lot.
