My surgeon said I could try fish tonight.  Any suggestions on which fish would be best to try?  Can you share your experience?  Salmon or Mahi? I just don't know!

Thanks,

Elaine

Salmon and mahi may be a little dense - make sure to not overcook it.  Then it gets dry and it's hard to get down.  I found that moist, flaky whitefish went down the easiest at first.  Tilapia, snapper, even halibut.

Enjoy dinner tonight!

The cooking is key.  Keep it soft and moist. I agree that salmon may not be a good first choice, maybe cod?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I think tilapia is the easiest - it's pretty soft and neutral.

My husband went on a seven day fishing trip to Mexico this summer and brought home hundreds of pounds of ahi and yellowtail.  Most of the time we eat the ahi just barely seared, and the yellowtail as ceviche.

However, getting ahold of this type of fish may not be the easiest (or financially practical) for you.  Tilipia is great as it's very flaky and moist.  Many people here love salmon, but I find it too oily.  Mahi is also a good contender as long as you don't overcook it.

Let us know how it goes.  Good luck!
