I had my VSG on 8/26/14 and I'm supposed to continue on a liquid diet until September 15 before I'm allowed pureed foods and I'm having a hard time. I've already tried some mushy foods and only have gotten sick once and bc I ate a little to much I think. I'm struggling with my protein shakes, they are disgusting and I am unable to drop everything and go out and buy 10 different kids to try until I find one I like. I understand doctors set this regimen on purpose and mine is not set specific for me, it's the same regimen for everyone in the office. I'm just wondering if anyone can help here, maybe some advice. I'm at a loss and have very few to reach out to.

You asked about that before - others suggested things you can do.  Or - call the doc ask them.

If you can't ask the doc - and proteins shakes are horrible - just make sure you drinking liquids - water, herbal teas, and broth... lots and lots of broth. And take your vitamins.  Even on just liquids like that - you can survive another week..as long as you drink water and liquids and take vitamins and minerals. don't push your sleeve too much too fast... it is not worth it..

Well I felt like I needed to ask again. I'm mentally struggling and seeking advice no matter what or how many times I ask.

Do you feel like you need to ask over and over until you get the answer you want?

We ALL had to follow a postop plan and we all lived through it.

Call your surgeon.  He may make some allowances for you or advance your diet sooner than what is normal in his practice, but unless you want to hurt yourself the decision needs to be his.

Or do/eat whatever you want (sounds like you are anyway), but you won't get much encouragement here if you choose that path.  We would like to see you succeed.  It's one thing to come on and ***** about your post-op plan as you're following it. Happens with the best of us. Early postop eating life isn't the most fun ever.  But it's a whole other thing to post like this in the hopes that someone will give you the answer you want to hear.

I think you need work your plan it's for the rest of our lives. You need to be strong and keep your head up you can do this. I'm 3 mos out and it's still hard for me. When my family goes out to eat I don't even go with them because I no I won't eat the right things I no I'm not strong enough yet.  I hate protein shakes but I no I have to drink them so I drink 2 a day try the pre made they taste better. Good luck

Thank you so much for replying and,not being rude or hurtful. I truly appreciate that. I may ***** and complain about the shakes but up an still gagging them down everyday. I may only get one in but I'm still trying. I just need to talk and vent. But I think ill hold off on posting for awhile. I don't deal well with being talked down to. I do definitely need to work on my plan you are absolutely right. Thanks for you reply.

Iloveravens I'm glad to know I'm not alone here with this, shake fiasco. I am still trying my best to get as much of them in as I can. Esp of the brand I have. Once I'm able I plan on trying a,different kind it's just hard. They are soooo yucky lol.

Have you tried adding ice and making them REALLY cold?  I find its the only way I can drink them.  They are totally tolerable when they are super cold.
