I am currently 6 months post partum and my doctor just referred me to a surgeon. I've battled weight my entire life so that's why we decided it's time to see a surgeon but will insurance give me a problem because I am 6 months post partum?

Hello, Kjeronimo!

I am 9 months post-partum and in my experience, my insurance company has not given me any difficulty as I try to obtain bariatric surgery. I am covered under BCBS of Texas.

Good luck to you and congratulations on taking charge of your health!

Great! thank you so much. My doctor did say around 6 months post partum was the earliest she would refer me so I was scared.

I had mine when my son was 11 months old - I stopped breastfeeding at that point, although I think there may be an odd person or two who has continued but I couldn't imagine doing so ...

Thank you! Couldn't breastfeed so not an issue :)
