I am just looking to see if I am on track or not, Dr Dirk wants 20 min daily working up to 60 min.

I have been swimming but not up to 60 min yet.

My dr told me no swimming for 4 weeks. I walk three times a day (increasing every day) and just hit my 4 week mark today actually. I'm supposed to start weight lifting this week, which is something I've never done before and have zero clue about...

Do you have access to a gym?  Or some hand-weights?

i would start with 3 pound dumb bells .... Google light-weight weight training for some beginning programs.

If you belong to a gym, see if you can pay for a few training sessions or if there's someone that will show you proper form for free. It's so easy to lift wrong and screw yourself up!

I was not allowed to get into water for 6 weeks

Post op, but iwas walking 20 minutes a day the first few days, up to 60 minutes by 2 weeks out.

Nothing earth shattering or speedy, but in my neighborhood,30 minutes twice a day or 60 minutes in the evening.

That is great, I think walking is good, that is what I do in the pool, walk back and forth till I am tired.

I was only allowed to walk for the first 6 weeks, so I spent that time working up to being able to walk for an hour straight.

I was 3 weeks out yesterday. Walked an hour on the treadmill. Felt great. My goal is to do an hour every day on treadmill! Best wishes!

I did nothing that really counted as exercise for the first 6 weeks.  I walked to prevent blood clots, and accomplished that by doing laps around the house.  Be cautious about doing anything strenuous for the first 4-6 weeks.  The little scars from the lap procedure give you a false sense of security.  All of the weight loss surgeries are major operations.  Don't test your limits.

I agree but it is funny my Dr was all for me swimming 2 days latter, but I listen to my body. I think it will be easier when I am out of this "liquid phase" ... Had blended chicken... oh yummy lol
