do you mean from the consultation date or from referral date? Well I'm still pre-op but I'll share my journey so far. I was referred out 7/30/2014 I went to the orientation 9/6/2014 im currently doing all my testing right now labs, ekg, chest X-ray,endoscopy etc.. (Lots of testings sheesh!!) and waiting for a referral to a dr for my psych evaluation. My consultation with the surgeon and dietitian are on 10/16/2014 I don't know when I will be scheduled for surgery, but i figure if i get all the testing and clearances done by my consult date, we should be scheduling for surgery the day of my consult! My insurance dosent require the 6 months dr supervised diet so I'll say 5 months max from refferal to surgery date (and that's a estimate since I'm still pre-ol) and that depends on your insurance and if you don't have to do the 6 months dr supervised diet! But get ready for a hell of a ride, theirs lots of testing, meetings etc.. etc... Your going to go through, it seems like it takes forever, but once everything starts happening it moves kind of quickly so good luck on your journey hope this helped!

Mine was almost 6 months and I didn't have to do a 6 month supervised diet but my surgeon had all kinds of class requirements that took about that long.

I had my first consultation in July, received insurance approval end of August, and am scheduled for surgery on October 23rd. Each doctor/insurance company has a different process though. Good luck :)

I had my first consult on 6/26/14, did all my preop requirements submitted to insurance on 7/31/14, was approved on 8/9/14, had surgery on 8/29/14, So for me the whole process was about 2 months.  I have BCBS of IL PPO, no diet plan was needed.

Each insurance is different. You need to contact your insurance and stay close in contact with them. Plus my surgeon's office was awesome, they let me know all the specialists appts I needed and who to contact.

I made my decision on 9/1/2013.  I saw the surgeon on 12/2/2013.  I had sugary on 3/13/2014.

I was delayed a month between 9/13 and 12/13 due to my husband changing jobs and my insurance changing.  And then I was delayed a month between 1/14 and 3/14 because my pre-op endoscopy found an ulcer that needed to be dealt with pre-op.
