Problems with chicken drumsticks?

I know this will sound odd but for some reason whenever I eat drumsticks I get sick and end up throwing up. I try to make sure I chew slow and thoroughly but it still happens. Anyone else? Any idea why?

Try putting the deboned chicken meat into soup, cutting it into small pieces.  Sometimes we inadvertently eat too large a bite or don't chew enough, but if you're already mindful of that, maybe it's simply not moist enough.

It could just be one of those foods your body no longer will tolerate as well as the good suggestions made above.

I can't eat ice cream and pasta has to be a very small portion or it balloons in my pouch.

Welcome to WLS world lol :)

Chicken itself can be very dense in the stomach.  Drumsticks, when eaten off the bone, we tend to take larger bites, chew less, etc.  It took years before I braved it.  Try taking the meet off of the bone first, cut with knife before eating, just as you would with chicken breast, or slow cook and pull off ahead of time.  One thing for sure, the tenderer- the better.

I don't eat it directly off the bone. I pull off the meat and cut it up and then eat it. It is very moist. I'm wondering if it is more fatty or something? I don't know. Something about it just doesn't work with my pouch. :(

sometimes that happens with a particular food;  try other things, go back to chicken later.  I had to give eggs and salmon a wide berth for several months.

Never could get over the effects of white bread or tortillas, myself.  Instant blockage in the esophagus and having to barf it back up.  (Shrug)  We're all different.

Could be because it is dark meat.  Try the breast or wing.

The breast and thigh don't do that to me. Thank you all for the responses!!!

I used to love chicken legs pre-op.  Now, I just can't tolerate them.   After two bites, it's ugh!  I've given them up for now.
