Is it normal to do a stomach biopsy during this procedure? They did find a hiatal hernia, moderate reflux so I am thinking this is normal----

390cooper,

Every Dr has his own plan.  My Dr did an EGD, and a Upper GI and that is how he found my hiatal hernia.  He fixed the hernia when he did my WLS.  When I had a colonoscopy a couple years ago they did take biopsies of my intestinal track,(I have diverticulosis which causes baby hernias in your intestines and they biopsy to make sure it is not cancerous.  Like I said though every Dr is different.  Good luck

Yes it's routine - they are checking for gastritis (it is very common). They need to make sure this is treated prior or WLS.
