Weighing meat??

I've moved onto soft foods (yay!) and I am weighing my 2.5 ounces of meat per my plan. I have noticed after the meat is cooked the weight is around 1.8-2oz. Do you go by the uncooked or cooked weight?

I went by the cooked weight. The uncooked weight has the water & fat in it & some of that is lost after you cook it. If it's in the pan & not in me why count it?, that's my opinion anyway.

Congrats on making it to the losers bench!

This is a really good question!  I weigh it after it is cooked.  I am not sure that is correct though.  Hope to hear other answers.  I am only 11 months out -- hopefully a vet will chime in.

I weigh all my food in its final form on the plate (or bowl) I'll be eating it from.

I've asked 6 Registered Dieticians this question. 3 said before cooking, 3 said after. All were adamant. Research online was equally split.

I weigh after cooking. I think as long as you are consistent, you will get consistent results.

Weigh after cooked. U are "cooking" some of the fats and water outta the meat. If it's lean protein, it'll be less fat. The Fitday App I've been using for years has a selection for uncooked and cooked.

your NUT/Dr. can specify what they intended for your plan.

I'm pre-op, but in previous times in my life when I've weighed food, I weighed the uncooked, wrapped in saran wrap. it was less messy, and just kept it more uniform for me.

Cooked - it loses moisture when you cook it.

I don't know about you but either way it's less than I used to eat.  : )
