What Iron Supplements Do You Take?

I'm six months post op (RNY). I just had my labs done and everything looks great! I'm not currently taking any iron supplements and my Ferritin levels have gone from 159 to 42. While still in "normal" range, it's quite a drop. I'd rather start something now than have levels continue dropping. What are the best iron supplements out there for post ops? I don't mind paying more for a better product, so please recommend anything!

My hemotologist has me off any kind of iron suppliments or vitamins that contain iron.  I have hemochromatosis which means I have to much iron.  I can't even donate blood because of it/

I've been using this -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041INS2E -- but I haven't had my labs drawn since I started taking it 3 months ago, so I'm not sure if it's doing the trick or not.

I take Sundown Naturals Perfect Iron. It's carbonyl iron.

Yeah, I'd definitely start taking iron with such a drop in ferritin.

I use Vitalady Tender Iron because it has 60 mg iron plus 400 mg vitamin C in one capsule.  Any carbonyl iron would be fine, though.  I recommend carbonyl because it's all elemental iron so it is absorbed really well plus is much less likely to cause constipation or an upset stomach than other types of iron.  If you want to poop. definitely stay away from ferrous sulfate.

I use the Vitalady Tender Iron that Kelly already mentioned.

With such a huge drop, you definietly need to start taking something right away.  I didn't have to take any iron supplements for the first 3 years, but I watched a gradual drop in my levels each of those years, so started taking the supplement.  It is MUCH easier for us to keep our levels up than to raise them up when they drop too low.

I take Proferrin, a heme iron, which is very easy to use (no side effects).   It is way more expensive than other types though, but it's now 4 years or so since I last had an infusion, so works for me!

If have suffered with chronic anaemia over the years (I've had several infusions) and it is only recently that it has become under control.
