That's a question we all ask ourselves.  WLS is a last-resort, and when you come to this point, you should be ready to answer YES.

As my co-morbs multiplied, the surgical risk and requirement to take supplements for life seemed increasingly reasonable. Ironically, in volume I take fewer things in vitamins now than I used to have to take in medications. I'm off all prescriptions for my co-morbs because they are all resolved.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Yes.  But, of course, both surgery and bring obese do have risks! Surgery is a last resort, I agree with the other person who said you will know when that point comes.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I just sometimes wish I had done it earlier.

Other than that, it's a life-changing life-long journey.

Had surgery at Nordbariatric, with surgeon A. Maleckas.

If you are approved to have wls, that means the surgeon believes the benefits outweigh the risks for you. That is the purpose of the minimum requirements and initial consultation.
