I am scheduled for my psychology evaluation tomorrow I am really nervous about this I know that I am mentally and emotionally ready for surgery but I was wondering what kind of questions they ask also on the paper work they want to know your greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses do they mean food or strengths and weaknesses in general

Just be honest.  This isn't the type of test that you need to prep for.  They are evaluating you to find out what type of eater you are, how stable you are, etc. to manage your expectations and challenges post surgery.

Relax.  It's not pass or fail.

I just completed mine last week, and I was in full on panic mode. But honestly its not that bad. The key things I can say would be to make sure you are very well informed on what your life will be like after surgery and make sure you point out the changes you have already made in an attempt to begin your new lifestyle. Really that just want to make sure that you are aware of what you are doing and that you are prepared to make this commitment.

As Geek said, just answer honestly - the questions are worded in such a way to trip you up if you are lying or not telling the whole truth!!!   It has a purpose - to make sure you know what you are taking on and that you are mentally ready to make the changes.   If you are, then it will show on your test.

I actually performed these for over 6 years as a licensed counselor, believe me there is nothing to worry about.  My personal priority was to make sure that everyone knew what to expect and the possibility of things like relationship changes or marital issues or jealousy as well as any potential for transfer addiction and I paid close attention to history of substance abuse or sexual abuse.  I never turned anyone down for surgery though there were plenty that I approved based on the agreement they would seek individual counseling pre and post op.

Assessments vary by professional, but my experience started with a 212 question T/F test ranging from "I like myself" to "there's a green man behind the car that tells me who to kill".  We had an interview, or "chat" that same day, then met again to discuss his findings.  It was not big deal.

It really is to your best advantage to just be honest. Remember, this is designed to help you be successful in the long run, not just "pass" or "fail" you! I was honest, the psychologist said she couldn't clear me yet for surgery, and I was INCREDIBLY thankful for that! With my past history of depression, yo-yo dieting, and binging and purging, she thought I needed to establish with a regular health psychologist to see through the first year after surgery. I've been seeing someone regularly now for 4 months, and it's made a world of difference for my mental and emotional health and my relationship with food. I've lost so much pre-op that I started to worry about disqualifying myself from surgery! My paperwork can't be submitted to my insurance until 4/1, and I'm a little nervous about the weight clinic's psychologist's report saying I'm not cleared, but they have the note from my regular therapist now saying she wholeheartedly supports my desire for surgery, so I'm hoping for a positive outcome.

My psych eval had no written component.  It was just an hour long conversation with a psychologist.

Primarily, she wanted to be sure that I had realistic expectations of the work involved to be successful following WLS.  She wanted to be sure that I was prepared for the physical, emotional, psychological changes that were coming.

I am sure you will do fine.  Just be honest.

I had mine today. Are you confident in your choice of surgery? If the answer is yes and you can clearly give an answer why you are choosing to do this procedure and you are well aware of the changes that are upcoming, then you won't have a problem. Good luck!
