Surviving The Pre-Surgery Diet

I'm looking for advice/ suggestions on how to get through the pre-surgery diet. I am so hungry at this moment and it is only day 2 of a 10 day regime. I return to work tomorrow and have a semi-active job working with children, so being cranky at work is not okay... I know this will pass, but it is not fun at this moment.

The first 3-4 days are the worst, after that, it'll get better!

Have some dense protein.  I liked to do the swiss/turkey rollups with some mustard and romaine lettuce.  it fills you up without the simple carbs.

Also, drink water or Snapple diet peach with unflavored protein in it;  this will help keep you hydrated and also derail the hunger.

Keep your eyes on the prize.

It sounds like the OP is on the liquid pre-op diet, so dense protein isn't an option.  (It certainly wasn't for me.)

Unfortunately, I am unable to eat regular foods. The diet is limited to 4 protein shakes daily and clear liquids (broth, jello, crystal light, calorie free flavored water, etc). Thank you for responding though.

The first 3 days are toughest ... It gets easier.

Maybe some sugar free breath mints to have a minty taste in your mouth.

After work, it helped me to have hot tea and a nice bath with a magazine or something to distract myself.

Then, early to bed .... Not hungry when I am asleep!!

hang in there, the worst is almost over.

You can do this, remember why you are doing this and this 10 days will soon be behind you. I haven't gotten that far yet hopefully this summer. just wanted to send you some encouragement.

Thank you! And things will pull together before you know it. It seems like a hurry up and wait situation, because you hurry to meet all the insurance requirements then end up waiting while the insurance reviews it. Then suddenly the waiting is over and your getting a surgery date...

I've been approved by my WLS team just waiting on sleep clinic rx so they can send my file to surgeon.
