I had the VBG in 2008, I have been throwing up ever since. The surgeon who did the surgery said it was in my head when in described the pain I'm in. Ive heard of a revision surgery and need help find a surgeon who will help.

What has your primary care physician said?  How much have you lost so far?  What does your typical day's diet look like?  I would request a copy of you whole file from the surgeon, go to your pcp, and get a referral for a different gastro doc.  They can see if there is anything else going on.  How long has this been going on?  Also, post this in the forum for your area and you may get help on other doctors in your area.

My PCP has tried with no avail. There are not many surgeons in CT and the ones I found are not taking new patients. I lost alit at first and now I've gained a lot back because of meds. The throwing up started soon after the surgery I'm 2008. My diet constist if eating what I can which is usually about 2 tablespoons and then the throwing up starts. Most of the time I just drink fluids....meats are horrible.

Please give Dr. Pohl a call in Rhode Island.  Even if you are on the western side of CT, it at the most would be a 3 hour drive.  The office number is 401-521-6310 located in Johnston, RI.  He does take on new patients and would be able to get that rotten band out.  He has been doing bariatric surgery for over 15 years.

Don't wait any longer your life could very well depend on it.

It is your life.  Living like that is not life.

not sure what you need to do to get motivated to find a good doc that can fix it.  borrow money, sell things, get a job -  don't let that kill you...

BTW: I developed some issues after RNY... it took me a few years to figure out what is going on... I am constantly working on it... but living with constant pain is not my idea of fun..or even life worth living... so I constantly look for answer...  I am on a very restricted diet,  that I follow 95% of the time... the other 5%- well - when I "cheat" - I get pain pain and more pain... that is a very strong motivator to stay on plan.

but it took persistence, and a few surgeries, lots of blood work, lots of research, etc etc...to get me here..

I am not sure the VBG is done anymore and I just checked out the board on here (click on Forums, then look at "more" under surgery types) and the board is almost dead apart from people posting because they think it is the VSG board.

But no-one should be throwing up for seven years - with it without surgery, whatever the surgery. Or even if it IS in your head!!!!

you need to find a doctor who listens to you. Soon!

Run, don't walk, to another surgeon. Get thoroughly checked out. The VBG was a horrible surgery, and has been torturing many people for years. A revision might be the best thing for you.

I had VBG in 1986.  It was a nightmare.  I vomited everyday for 25 years and ended up with Barrettes Esophagus (and worse) as a result of that vomiting.  My original surgeon disappeared and I had no aftercare.  Every doctor I complained to blamed my eating habits for the vomiting and extreme pain.  I developed a life threatening complication from the surgery before anyone took me seriously.  I was referred to Mayo Clinic's top gastric surgeon after seeing 6 specialist who said they had never seen anything like my case and could do nothing for me.  The surgeon who performed my VBG had mutilated my stomach beyond recognition.  The Mayo surgeon literally saved my life by rebuilding my stomach and revising to a modified RNY.  He told me to get my things in order because I might not survive the surgery.

I am not the norm.  My case is extreme, but VBG is no longer done at Mayo Clinic because it has such a high complication rate.  If you are having problems DON'T SIT QUIETLY BY.  Keep complaining until someone takes you seriously.  Vomiting everyday is NOT NORMAL it could be causing serious damage to your esophagus.

OMG, I can't believe you've been throwing up for SEVEN YEARS. You are far, far more patient that I ever could be.

The doc who says it's "all in your head" needs to pull his out his ass and address the problem. If you're still seeing this idiot, you need to march into his office and DEMAND - not ask - that he fix this problem. You are, more than likely, already suffering from serious and long-term problems.

HE works for you, not the other way around. Like I said - don't ASK for help from him. ORDER it.

I don't know much about this surgery but I am extremely annoyed and troubled that a doctor would just write you off and say it's all in your head.  Without the benefit of tests or blood work or anything.

You need to go to the next doctor and the next doctor until someone will listen.  I would not sit idly by while my health and quality of life go down the drain.
