Does it seem like Hollywood lies about weight loss?

I know Hollywood is filled with untruths, but looking at Melissa McCarthy's newest look, and how much she slimmed down, when they say she lost an astonishing 50 pounds I keep thinking "Yeah, plus another 50".  She was big.  My size.  I just lost 43 pounds, and I don't look 5 sizes smaller.  Its frustrating to me to see dishonesty in weight situations because it skews the way non-fat struggling people look at the amount of weight people have, lose, and juggle on a daily basis.  This weekend people expected to see grande differences in how I looked because of what they saw with Melissa McCarthy.  (They literally used her as an example).  They knew my loss was 7 pounds shy of what she lost and they looked at me as if I was mistaken on my numbers.  Kinda makes me look like a liar.

You could have stopped at "does it seem like Hollywood lies?" and the answer would still be yes.

no she has lost a ton and you can see it in her face, ankles and wrists.  I mean yeah, spanx will totally make me look smaller too, I guess I'm just pissed that with all the fat-acceptance she is pushing for that she can't be honest about her own weightloss.

For sure. I'm a big fan of plus sized model Tess Munster who has been on the cover of People magazine billed as 'the first size 22 supermodel' .... and let me tell you she is NOT a size 22,  I'd say closer to a 26.

Why they misrepresent that kind of stuff I have no idea.

I don't know if it is to make them more approachable, or to not disgust the rest of the normals.  When I told my friends how much I weighed they were shocked.  They expect someone over 300 to look more like someone over 600.

This reminds me of being pre-op and discussing my upcoming surgery with my (thin) best friend. She asked me if I was "big enough" to qualify for WLS. Um, I was 323 pounds at 5'3". Yeah, I was big enough. She was pretty shocked when she eventually found out my starting weight and BMI.

Lol yeah this weekend one of my friends, who is a personal trainer, about died when I told her I was over 300.  She laughed then looked at me and said are you serious?  She seriously thought I was in the low 200s.  If people are shown fat in the media then lied to about the numbers it just perpetuates a misconception about fast and helps to hide the true epidemic.

Yes, normal people have no idea. I am tall so that adds to the lack of understanding. People keep saying you aren't going to lose much more are you? and I have 55lbs to get to top of normal BMI... That is why I won't tell most people how much I've lost, don't need them doing the math...
