I'm just trying to figure things out.  I have my initial appt. on July 14th and I want to start getting adjusted to this now.  I just saw that redplum.com has a coupon for the Premier Protein Shakes - it's $4 off.  Is that a good deal?  I'm thinking I'll use that for a meal (along with some green salad) a few times a week.  Insurance says I have to lose 10% of body weight before surgery, so for me that's like 35 pounds.  Does that make sense?  Thanks, everybody!!

I would wait till after your appointment. Your doctor may want to put you on a meal diet not a shake diet. I know if my surgery was going to be a ways out I wouldn't want to start drinking protein drink this soon. That is just me though.

I would wait to see your doctor. He may send you to a nutritionist.

That's a great deal I buy my 4 packs at Walmart and they are $5.98! I did one shake as a meal replacement during my 6 month supervised diet.

I agree that I wouldn't drink any protein shakes before necessary. The best advice I have for you is to start using myfitnesspal religiously now. Track everything you eat and work to reduce your calories and carbs. Get used to counting your protein too. You do not need protein shakes to get in enough protein when you have a normal size stomach. Enjoy it while you can. Protein shakes are a necessary evil for those who cannot consume enough food. They are not part of the long term solution. You are better off learning to make good food choices, which takes a lot of label reading and time, but it is essential for long term success.

two weeks before I had my surgery they put me on a pre op diet and lost 20 lbs and I wasn't hungry the reason they put you on this diet is to shrink your liver because they have to lift your live to stapple your stomach if you stay on the diet for two weeks ( I   cheeted one night LOL)you will loose 15 -20 lbs that's if your dr has you do the diet!!you may be on premier shakes after for two weeks I know iam wed will be two weeks for me from surgery after that I go no soft food for two weeks. have you been to a deitition yet?this is my doet now, 1/4 cup greek yougurt for b fast. 1/4 cup  of cream soup strained 1/4 cup of apple sause. lunch 1/4 cup soup and 1/4 cup apple sause for dinner , two protein shakes for snake both am and after noon (2:00) I am not humgry and some times I have to make my self eat!! now that's a first for me because I liked to eatbefore. surgery hurt like hell after I had kidney stones in the 70s and it is about the same but don't worry about the 5th day you will feel much better

Premier is great and $4 off is $4 off. They sell them at Costco, Sam's Clubs and BJ's Wholesale also beside Walmart. Sam's has them on sale right now... not sure if they accept coupons. I know BJ's does. Yes, wait til you see the dietician or surgeon before you buy too much. Mine started me on a weight loss diet that included one shake a day right away... then more shakes right before surgery.

I checked out the website, $4 off at Wally World, that's an awesome deal, I didn't need to lose weight for the insurance company but did have to lose 10% off my weight in order for the doc to do surgery, I did 2 shakes and a low carb dinner like the Slim Fast days lol, I also had to do 2 weeks of liquid diet and I alternated Premier Protein along with another protein shake to change things up, good luck on your weight loss journey!
