Weight gained in the hospital and bloating

Endoscopy and laproscopy both done on 7/10/15.  Admit weight 187, discharge weight on 7/14/15 197, very bloated, I look 6 months pregnant.

Bowel movements minimal lose non-formed since 7/10/15., lots of gas.

How long does it take for the bloating to resolve and the extra weight to come off?

Sorry if this is TMI for some.

I'd suggest calling your surgeon's office, they may want you to come in so they can check everything out.

First follow up was last week, Dr. C said I had a ton of fluids infused with all the IV medications and 2 procedures where gas was used to expand the abdomen for room to work and to visualize things, she said it will take time and he said stool will not be formed in the typical manner when my diet is full liquids and now puree.

It is just super frustrating to step on a scale and see a ten pound gain not gradually decrease daily, and to feel so bloated.

Make sure you are pushing lots of fluids (at least 80 oz. of water a day) and keeping your sodium intake super-low.  That will help move it off.

Will start tracking fluids closer, it feels like I drink constantly, but not sure of daily ounces.

Thanks

I never knew how much water I drank per day until I got an app for my phone. There's a ton out there. The one I have been using is called Waterlogged. You set your goal oz for the day, then how often you'd like it to remind you over what timespan. It's great!

Post surgery, I gained 14 pounds in fluid (and that was just the lap RNY). It took a week to ten days to shed the fluid and then it was weight loss from there. My total for month 1 was 22 pounds (not counting the 14)! You'll get there!!
