Stuck, sick, and in pain

I'm 11 years postop. I recently saw my surgeon because of issues with dumping, stuck feeling, and weight regain despite doing everything right. Today I had some lunch ( 2 oz cooked carrots, and 1/2 cup of moist poached chicken) I chewed a million times like I usually do, but I still got the stuck feeling. I lay down for a few hours, which didn't help. I threw up. Didn't change anything. Sipped water, threw up again. It has now been 11 hours, I still feel nauseous, stuck, and in pain (I'm at work for another hour) it's been so long since I've had an issue that I don't know what to do. Help!

That stinks, what did the Doctor say? Maybe you should keep a journal of what you are eating- the amounts, times and what is happening when to show him... Don't really have any advice... hope you figure it out.

Eep sorry, I wasn't more specific. Usually whatever is bugging me passes, and there's no rhyme or reason for it. He recommended a revision of sorts (the Apollo procedure) to fix the dumping and weight regain.

But today, this has lasted for 12+ hours, I still can't even keep down sips of water, I still have the stuck feeling, nausea, and pain. Not normal at all. It's been ages since I've felt this bad, and I don't know what to do

Did he mention an endoscopy to see if anything looks physically wrong?

Yes. The dumping is caused by an enlarged stoma, which the Apollo can fix. But that's not the problem right now. Right now I'm concerned about the pain, nausea, vomiting, and persistent stuck feeling that's still happening. Dumping is a daily occurrence for me. The stuck feeling never lasts longer than 15-20 minutes. 12+ hours is scaring me.

A log of food eaten and pain level sounds like a good idea. Can you have a protein shake without pain?

Do you still have your gallbladder? It sounds like gallstones to me, which can cause a horrible feeling in your chest or back... I couldnt eat anything at all eventually. They took my gallbladder out and it was gone.

Nope, gallbladder has been gone for 6 years now

"Stuck" is usually a stricture; I'm not familiar with the Apollo procedure, but an EDG is usually indicated to stretch the stoma.

Hope you are able to get some relief quickly; you could easily wind up dehydrated and have even worse problems. You might want to get IV fluids to avoid that.

Good luck.

It's definitely not a stricture, my stoma is actually too big. The Apollo procedure places sutures in the stoma and pouch to reduce size and stop the dumping, and encourages weight loss because the pouch is back to the original size that it was postop the first time.

I don't normally feel the "stuck" often, usually only with Chinese food, which I eat very infrequently, and even then, I don't feel it for very long. I'm still feeling it. Not as much pain now, but definitely still that feeling. I had some water and couldn't feel it hit my stomach, which I usually can. Strange. I haven't had issues for so long.
