Flying out of country (and back in) ?'s

I'm going to MX for plastics soon and I have a few questions. I don't travel by air very often and it has been several years. I was wondering if you guys packed your pills and vitamins in their original containers so that TSA would know what they were or if you just put them in your pill case for the week? I prefer to have them organized in the case before my trip, but I'd hate for TSA to confiscate them not knowing what they are and with no documentation. I can put it in my checked luggage, but I know those sometimes get checked, too.

Also, protein powder- Can I pack my non-sealed tub in my checked luggage? It might sound like a stupid question, but coming back from MX, I don't want them to think I'm trying to smuggle something in :D

Thank you!

I'm off to London tomorrow and my pills are in pill cases in my luggage to be checked.   I travel a lot and have never had any problems.

I would put the protein powder in there too.  Worst case scenario - if they're suspicious, a quick sweep of the drug dogs or drug test would prove you innocent

When I went to Peru I used a 2 week pill container with all my meds and had no problem going and coming back. You can also check the Transportation Security Administration for any new changes and rules.

I've flown to Canada with a bunch of pills in a baggie, and not an eyelash was batted over it.  It wouldn't hurt to contact the TSA to see what their preference is, though.

We went to Mecico City in January with just carry on luggage and my husband had vitamins in a Baggie, no issues whatsoever.  They don't care about stuff like that.

Great!  This makes me feel better.  I appreciate all of the responses!

The vitamins should be no problem. Bring protein powder is no big deal either. If it were me, I'd leave unused protein powder in Mexico though. It wouldn't be worth the potential delay or other problems it might cause bringing it back in.

Just made a roundtrip Belgium to California last week.  I only had what I needed for a day in my purse - otherwise everything else was checked.  Vitamins, meds, protein powder etc in original packaging as well as inside baggies and it is a non issue.  To avoid all hassle I recommend doing exactly as they say (TSA) when you are going through the securitiy check point.  By that I mean EMPTY your pockets completely!

I had a Kleenex in my back pocket and this caused my scan to show an unidentified object on my person which tripped off all the security procedures (i.e.: wipe down of fingers, body pat down in a private room etc.)

Not fun and time consuming, but they didn't bat an eyelash at the prescription drugs and vitamins in my purse or the packets of protein powder!  Go figure.
