Wearing clothes that fit

I have a ton of clothes in varying sizes from over the years like I'm sure many of you have from being different weights. So throughout my weight loss I've done my best to wear those clothes as long as I freaking can to save me money and basically shop out of my closet. I have clothes in there I hadn't worn in about 9 years that I only got a chance to wear that I bought when I was that size for maybe a year when I lost a ton of weight but couldn't keep it off.

But I'm getting to the point where none of those clothes fit either. But I'm still wearing them because trying to be cheap as long as I can lol.

But every once in a while I hit the clearance sales to try to find good clothes. This week I've worn shirts that have fit every day. And every day I've gotten comments about my weight loss. Like they haven't noticed it at all before now lol. The comments don't matter to me one way or the other. But looking in the mirror and seeing how much better I look in these clothes and not swimming in them definitely gives me confidence. I keep thinking dammit I wish I had a meeting with someone important this week because I feel so confident!

Anyways - yay for clothes that fit and confidence!

I couldn't agree more. I absolutely hate to see people in ill-fitting clothes-- whether its too big or too small.  When you feel good in something it shines through in how you carry yourself.

I see everyone is posting about clothes being too large. What happens to the shoe size? I live for the day that I can purchase smaller shoes. It has actually been a bigger problem than the clothes.

My shoe size wasn't ever that big so mine hasn't really shrunk much - maybe half a size? I notice it certain shoes. I'm hoping it makes a huge difference this winter because I've always always wanted awesome boots but my calves have always been way too fat for them.

I'm finding that I always feel better when I wear something that fits me.

Most of my pants are starting to get too loose on me.  I resorted to buying a belt, which was weird for me because when I was SMO I never wore belts and honestly didn't know how to shop for one.

I am now dealing with wearing shorts for the first time in a long time.  Before surgery I never wore shorts, it was always capris.

I'm actually looking forward to going to the OH conference because I have a ton of stuff for the clothes exchange.

Totally only wear clothes that fit.  One thing I learned was that I really don't need that many clothes, as long as they fit and I like them.

I also am lucky because I can sew and I zip up the side seams and things fit for another few months.

PS - Your picture looks so different from your old one.  Way to stay on track.

Oh I agree about not needing that many clothes (not nearly as many as I had before!) but with working in an office I do need more dress clothes than I had before unfortunately. I'm getting pretty good at balancing what I wore when and switching off lol.

I wish I had the ability to sew because that talent would have been super helpful these last few months!

And thanks :)

To try and offset the cost of a complete new wardrobe, I sold everything I could on eBay.  You'd be surprised at what people would pay $5, $10, or even $20 for.  Really helped.  Time consuming, but worth it for me.

I found ebay next to worthless for me. But I've been very successful on Poshmark and have made quite a bit of money there. I have another batch to post on there. You're right about time consuming though!

I was a SAHM when I had surgery, and I lost all my weight (and some) in 6 months.  I shopped my closet and bought a couple of pairs of dark blue, boot cut jeans from Walmart every month.  Goodwill was a good source for tops.

I've only ever worn clothes that fit me.  My surgeon made us sign a note that we understood the financial ramifications of WLS including new clothes and plastic surgery. I think that was a wise thing to do.
