Does anyone have any suggestions for vitamins?  I can't afford the Bariatric Formulas and looking to order them online from Puritan Pride or some other vitamins shop.  What is everyone else using and where do you buy them at.  I need a Multivitamin, calcium, I'm already getting a B12 shot.  And I think I need vitamin D.  Any low cost but adequate vitamin suggestions?  Thanks everyone.

I use patch vitamins now, with extra D3 and B12. Before that I used CVS brand, which are the generic equivalent of Centrum. I got them BOGO, and a year supply was about 12 bucks.

You do not need bariatric vitamins. I buy all my vitamins, except calcium, through Amazon. For multis, I generally use Kirkland or Centrum. Vitamin D is Bio Tech. I like chewable calcium, so I buy the Celebrate brand from Nashua Nutrition when they have sales. However, cheaper alternatives like Caltrate Petites, are also an option.

This is exactly what I do with the addition of Proferrin (which is costly).   At 12 years out, my labs are awesome

I use PatchMD.  I have multi, b-12, iron, calcium and D3.  Nice to not worry about swallowing pills!

How do you manage the patches? We're told you can't take oral D3 with the multi or iron because iron negates the D3 - how does this work with the patches?

Because the patches are topical, they do not interfere with the absorption of your iron and calcium/D3, like you do when you take vitamins orally.   So, you do not have worry about not absorbing all your vitamins.    You place the patch on your skin (where you have no hair growing) and wear them for 8 hours.  I put mine on at night before I go to bed and take them off when I get up.

You can learn more about PatchMD here and read about what other members that are using them, have to say.

To my knowledge, iron does not negate the absorption of anything else. But LOTS of things inhibit the absorption of iron. Calcium, or anything with calcium in it (not the D3), blocks iron, as does tea, coffee, soy, and many other things. Vitamin C, on the other hand, helps iron absorb.

As someone else pointed out, all of this is for oral vitamins. The patch is transdermal, and doesn't have the same issues.
