Scrambled eggs

I am on the pureed phase and loving the fact that I can have scrambled eggs. However, is there such a thing as too much scrambled egg? I have been having 2 scrambled eggs with a tbsp. of mild salsa between 2-3 times a day, every day. Sometimes I will swap the salsa with 1/4 cup of pureed beans (or both salsa and beans) but that is all I have been eating for the last 8 days. Am I overdoing it since I know it has fat in it but it's on the list of approved foods (that I got on here)? I don't know what post-op caloric / fat intake is ok and it's not in my pamphlet from the doctor. The nutritionist is on vacation but I left a message. In the meantime....

Download the my fitness pal app on your phone or go to their website http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and log your food daily. It counts calories, proteins, fats etc. Some people ate refried beans or Wendy's chili daily.

Is there such a thing as eating too much food? Well yeah. First, you had surgery a short time ago, your nerves were cut, and you have no ability to tell if you're full or not. Eat too much, you can hurt yourself.

Eating too much food? That's what got us all morbidly obese. Stop.

You need to make a plan. Watch your calories, protein and carbs. Start adopting new ways of eating.

I'm eating exactly the amount of ounces the doctor told me to. My question was is scrambled eggs OK to eat at every meal. Is there such a thing as to much egg because of the fat content. Are we limited to a certain number of eggs a day?

You can eat eggs at every meal forever.

In other posts, you say you weren't given information on calories or quantities, but you you say you are eating exactly how many ounces your doctor told you to. Which is it?

Two eggs at a time this soon is A LOT! Most people can'take eat two eggs for 6 months or a year. Do yourself a favor and reign it in, now. You do not need 2 eggs at a time. I understand you want it, and it's hard to fight that urge. I've been there. Find a way to stop.

The nurse emailed me recently and said I am to eat between 2-3 Oz of pureed foods at each sitting but I was not told calorie and fat gram limits. That can make a big difference in what I choose to eat. That is why I am asking here. Eventually the nurse or nutritionist will get back to me with that specific answer but in the meantime I thought I would ask some vets.

An egg weighs about 2 ounces, so you really shouldn't be eating more than one at a time right now.  I'm a year out and can just now eat 2 eggs.  I'm surprised that you're not in some pain when you eat 2 of them.

The fat in eggs won't hurt you, they are fine.  Most people just starting out are eat between 600-800 calories a day during the weight loss phase.  At goal I'm still eating only about 1,000 calories a day.

I was told not to worry about ounces.  I was told I should eat no more than 1/2 cup per meal.  That was hard to get my head around as I was so used to the WW way.  My pouch is the size of an egg and I can't handle more than 1/2 cup for right now.  I kept asking the dietician about weighing my food and she kept repeating 1/2 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/2 cup.  Two eggs is too much FOR ME.  So it's quantity that I have to watch.  In my mind, weighing is more accurate, but I was told to just keep measuring 1/2 cup.  So that's what I do.  Hope this makes sense.  It didn't to me because of the way she was wording it and she didn't explain it very well.  then I had a doctor friend explain it and she made more sense.

Using volume early on is important to make sure your new stomach doesn't get stuffed. Weight of food isn't very helpful.

Later on, measuring for calories is very important. For calories, volume means almost nothing, and weighing food becomes vital.

I shoot for 600 calories a day now with less than 40 grams of carbs. I see we are both end of July sleevers. I will stay between 600-800 calories while I'm in the weight loss phase with the same amount of carbs. I hope  this helps.
